Official Yahtzee Rules & Scoring

The objective is to score the most points by filling 13 categories across Upper Section and Lower Section. Each turn consists of up to three rolls — you may hold any dice between rolls.

Upper Section (1–6)

Sum of dice showing the corresponding number. If total ≥ 63, you earn a 35-point bonus.

Lower Section (Special Hands)

  • Three of a Kind — total of all dice
  • Four of a Kind — total of all dice
  • Full House — 25 points
  • Small Straight — 30 points
  • Large Straight — 40 points
  • Yahtzee (5 of a kind) — 50 points
  • Chance — total of all dice

Yahtzee Bonus!

Each additional Yahtzee after the first earns a 100-point bonus — provided you've already scored a Yahtzee in the 50-point box.

How to Play Yahtzee — Step by Step

  1. Roll the dice — click or shake to roll all five dice.
  2. Select dice to keep — tap each die to hold it for the next roll.
  3. Re-roll — you get up to 3 rolls per turn.
  4. Choose a category — after your final roll, assign the result to a category on your scorecard.
  5. Watch the bonus — if Upper Section totals 63+, get +35 points.
